Mazen Hassan

Associate Professor of Comparative Politics, Cairo University

Mazen Hassan is an Associate Professor of Comparative Politics at Cairo University, Egypt. He has a PhD degree in politics from Oxford University in 2011 and a Master’s degree in politics from Warwick University (UK). He has been previously a visiting professor at Hamburg University, a Carnegie Fellow at the Ash Center, at Harvard Kennedy School and a Research fellow at the Centre for the Study of African Economies at Oxford University. His research interests include electoral systems, party systems, lab experiments, political economy and social norms. His publications appeared in Democratization, Political Research Quarterly, Public Choice, European Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Economic Behaviour and Organization, Government and Opposition, Mediterranean Politics, Political Studies, and Electoral Studies. He also co-authored two books on the Egyptian political system in the transitional period following the 2011 revolution.
