Atiyeh Vahidmanesh

Assistant Professor of Economics, University of Tehran

Atiyeh Vahidmanesh is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Tehran and Senior Advisor to the Minister of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare in Iran. Her research uses applied microeconometrics, causal inference, and large household datasets to study poverty dynamics, inequality of opportunity, and human capital formation and Labor Market in the Middle East. She has led national projects on multidimensional poverty measurement and has collaborated with UNDP and WHO on distributional impacts of economic shocks and fiscal policies. Her work appears in Asian Development Perspectives, Middle East Development Journal, Journal of Knowledge Economy, and Iranian Economic Review. She is the author of Poverty and Food Security in Iran, a data-intensive analysis of nutritional deprivation using 2006–2023 household records. Vahidmanesh holds a PhD in Economics from Virginia Tech and previously served as a Research Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Middle East Initiative
