Call for Papers: 2nd Annual Central Bank Conference on Development Economics in MENA – Deadline: November 5, 2022

On behalf of the MENA Regional Research Network (RRN), the Office of the Chief Economist for the Middle East and North Africa Region of the World Bank, in collaboration with the Saudi Central Bank, invites you to submit research papers for the 2nd Annual Conference on Development Economics in MENA. The theme of the conference is "INFLATION DYNAMICS DURING UNCERTAIN TIMES: THE PATH TOWARD STABLE AND SUSTAINABLE RECOVERY ”.

The RRN was launched in 2021 with the objective to stimulate economic debate across MENA countries and to strengthen research capacity in Central Banks. The RRN annual conference is sponsored by a Steering Committee composed of Heads of research departments and Chief Economists of MENA Central Banks.  

The RRN Steering Committee is seeking high-quality and internationally publishable research papers on but, not limited to the following topics: Inflation drivers and their ramifications globally and for the MENA region, Macroeconomic policy during a period of high interest rates, Inflation’s fiscal vulnerabilities, Structural interventions for recovery.  Theoretical and empirical papers are welcome. They need not focus solely on the MENA region but must be relevant to it.

The deadline for submitting a complete paper is November 5, 2022. Interested authors should submit their papers via email at menarrn@worldbank.org. The authors of accepted papers will be notified by email on December 11, 2022.The conference will be in hybrid format in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on January 31 and February 1, 2023. The sessions will feature paper presentations, a keynote lecture, and a high-level policy panel.
