Nidhal Ben Cheikh (born 1974), is holding a Phd in economics from the University of Paris-Cité and working as independent consultant since 2017. He has held several positions since 2001 in the Tunisian administration, including economic advisor to the Minister of Social Affairs and Director of Studies at the Centre for Research and Social Studies (CRES). He is also a member of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Social Policy Network at the University of Bath in the UK and active in several scientific networks in the MENA region around issues related to social protection, poverty and inequality analysis. His area of expertise covers social and child protection delivery systems, household surveys design and analysis, labor market analysis, informal economy, migration policies, gender analysis and human development. He is the author of several scientific articles and publications on the topics of the evaluation of social protection programmes, local development and informality. He has worked for 21 years in several MENA countries including Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, Iraq, Kuwait and Oman.
