Jala Youssef is an Economist-ET Consultant at the World Bank (Economic Policy (EP) Global Department, West Africa). She joined the World Bank in 2018 as a Consultant with the EP Middle East and North Africa. She was a Teaching and Research Fellow (ATER) of Economics at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and an Assistant Lecturer on part time basis at the French Section of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University. She also worked as a researcher at the Economic Research Forum (ERF) and at the Egyptian Government (the Ministry of International Cooperation and the Egyptian Competition Authority). She holds a B.A. in Economics from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University and the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, an M.A. and a PhD in Economics from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Her research lies at the intersection of macroeconomics and development economics. She works on structural change, productivity, economics of growth, and the impact of structural versus stabilization policies on macroeconomic aggregates.
