Ayça Tekin-Koru
Director of the Trade Research Center and Dean of the Graduate School, TED University
Ayça Tekin-Koru received her BSc and MSc degrees in Economics from Middle East Technical University in 1994 and 1997, respectively. She received her PhD in Economics from Purdue University 2001. Later, in 2001-2003 Dr. Tekin-Koru worked as a visiting faculty and taught economics courses at Krannert Graduate School of Management. Subsequently, she was a faculty member in the Department of Economics of Oregon State University between 2003-2011. From 2011 to 2012, for a year, she conducted research at TurkStat funded by a reintegration grant by TUBITAK. In the years between 2012 and 2016 Dr. Tekin-Koru worked as the founding chair of the Business Administration Department of TED University. Dr. Tekin-Koru has so far taught courses on international economics, game theory, microeconomics, macroeconomics and economics of social issues at different levels of complexity. In the inaugural years of her career, Dr. Tekin-Koru explored the organizational form of multinationals, impact of economic integration on location choice of foreign firms and the multifaceted interaction between corruption and foreign direct investment. Afterwards, she conducted empirical investigations of services trade at the firm level and impact of sustainable development policies and trade policy on firm productivity. Lately, Dr. Tekin-Koru's research agenda has been shaped by interdisciplinary work at the nexus of disaster management and sustainability. Her research appeared in journals such as European Economic Review, Review of International Economics, World Economy, Economic Systems, Journal of International Trade and Development, International Migration and Applied Economics. Ayça Tekin-Koru is currently a faculty member of the Economics Department, the director of the Trade Research Center and the dean of the Graduate School at TED University.
