Meltem Ince-Yenilmez

Meltem INCE-YENILMEZ is a professor of economics at Izmir Democracy University, Izmir, Türkiye, where she has held positions as the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law, Member of the Centre for Women Studies, and Board Member of the Faculty of Business and Economics, besides her duties of teaching and research. She is a labor economist with an interest in gender economics, health economics, and behavioral economics. She also teaches mathematical economics, economic integration, and microeconomics. Her distinguished academic career includes a tenure as a visiting researcher at the University of California, Berkeley; Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, and the University of California, Santa Cruz. Additionally, she has held prestigious appointments as a Research Associate—twice—at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a Visiting Faculty member at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Rohtak, and is currently serving as a Visiting Professor at Tohoku University, Japan. Her research focuses on critical issues in labor economics, including feminist economics, gender disparities, discrimination, the economics of care work, the economics of migration, the economics of artificial intelligence, and climate economics. A prolific scholar, she has authored 20 books, published by leading academic presses such as Brill, Lexington, Rowman & Littlefield, Routledge, Springer, Edward Elgar, and Palgrave Macmillan. Her forthcoming publications will explore climate change, the intersection of labor and health economics, labor market transitions, gender disparities in sports, and the implications of automation and robot resistance in workforce dynamics.
