Dr. Ünal Seven is Executive Director of the Structural Economic Research Department at the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye. His work sits at the intersection of macroeconomics, financial economics, and firm dynamics, with a focus on understanding how credit markets, financial constraints, and policy interventions shape firm behavior and productivity in emerging economies. Dr. Seven brings extensive experience in both research and policy, having previously served as Deputy Executive Director in the Bank’s Data Governance and Statistics Department and as Director of the Rating and Risk Analysis Division. Dr. Seven holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca (Italy), complemented by visiting research experience at Boğaziçi University. He obtained a B.A. in Mathematics from Dokuz Eylul University (in 2010) and a M.S. in Finance from Izmir University of Economics (in 2012). After completing his doctoral studies, he joined the CBRT’s research team as an Economist. Dr. Seven received the title of Associate Professor in Macroeconomics from the Inter-Universities Council on March 2022. His scholarly work is widely published in internationally recognized journals, including the European Economic Review, International Journal of Money and Finance, International Journal of Finance and Economics, Emerging Markets Review, Empirical Economics, and Housing Studies. His empirical research, grounded in microdata and advanced econometric methods, provides insights into firm-level responses to public credit programs, firms’ behavior under financial constraints, and the distributional consequences of financial development. Dr. Seven is also an Associate Editor of the Central Bank Review and a Research Fellow at the Economic Research Forum (ERF). His academic and policy contributions are frequently cited for their analytical rigor, practical relevance, and relevance to economic development and financial stability in low- and middle-income countries.
