Sarah El Khishin
Associate Professor of Economics, British University in Egypt
Dr. Sarah Mohamed El-Khishin is an Egyptian economist, currently serving as an Associate Professor of Economics, Director of Strategy Development, and University Advisor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the British University in Egypt (BUE). Her career spans academia, government advisory, and international consultancy. Professional experience includes serving as a senior economic advisor to the Egyptian government, as well as collaborating with national and international organizations. Dr Sarah held various leadership roles, in governance, strategic planning and developing strategic initiatives aligned with SDGs. Her professional career began at the Cabinet of Ministers and with a number of ministers in the economic cabinet since 2004. She contributed to significant national projects, international cooperation and policy development activities. Throughout her career, Dr Sarah has been committed to fostering sustainability and SDGs implementation, both within the academic community and in broader economic policy contexts. She leads instrumental initiatives such as the COP Simulation Model and collaborations with stakeholders to promote sustainability and environmental leadership among youth. Dr. El-Khishin completed her undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies in Economics at Cairo University. Research interests focus on international finance, public finance, political economy, sustainable and climate finance and green public financial management. Dr Sarah is actively engaged with the Economic Research Forum, the American Economic Association, Middle East Economic Association (MEEA) and the Arab Society for Economic Research (ASAFER) and other professional bodies.
