Olivier Ecker

Dr. Olivier Ecker is a Senior Research Fellow in the Development Strategy and Governance Division at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), where he has worked since 2009. His research deals with the economics and policy of food systems in African, Asian, and Middle Eastern countries. Olivier’s research focuses on the linkages between economic growth, agriculture, food demand, and nutrition. He specializes in approaches and methods to estimate the effects of national and subnational policies on household diets and food security. Olivier has also conducted research on the impact of climate extremes on civil conflict, as well as on farm household resilience to such shocks. He is based in IFPRI’s Headquarters in Washington, DC. Olivier received his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Hohenheim, Germany.
