Egypt’s Former Minister of Environment and Professor of Environmental Economics at the Institute of National Planning

Dr. Khaled Fahmy is an environmental economist with over 30 years of experience in institutional and policy reform in the environment sector. Egypt’s Minister of Environment for three cabinets (2013-2018) formulated policies and market-based tools to implement legislative reforms to achieve environmental sustainability goals. He is a member of the International Advisory Board of the UNEP-IETC. He served in senior management positions in an array of development cooperation projects working in environmental management reforms, and participatory planning and governance funded by USAID, German BMZ, DANIDA, the World Bank, and UNDP.
