Hamid Eltgani Ali
Professor of Economics and Public Policy, Doha Institute for Graduate Studies
Hamid E. Ali is a Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI). He served as the Dean of the School of Economics, Administration, and Public Policy from 2020 to 2023. Dr. Ali earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and was a tenured faculty member at the American University in Cairo from 2008 to 2021. He also held a research position at the US Government Accountability Office (GAO), significantly contributing to several reports for US congressional committees. Dr. Ali has been a distinguished invitee at forums hosted by the US Institute for Peace, the US State Department, and Chatham House. He has teaching experience at institutions such as Texas State University and Southern Methodist University. He is a member of the Task Force of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA)/IASIA and serves on the IASIA Board of Management. He previously served as the President of the Association of Middle Eastern Public Policy and Administration. As an author, Dr. Ali has edited several noteworthy books and published numerous articles in international peer-reviewed journals.
