Federica Saliola

Lead Economist, Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice, World Bank

Federica Saliola is a Lead Economist in the Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice of the World Bank. She is the Program Manager of the Jobs Umbrella Multi-Donors Trust Fund (MDTF), which is an integrated, cross cutting facility that finances 103 grants in 40 countries. She also leads a program (Supporting Effective Jobs Lending at Scale) that evaluates the impact, and aims at improving the effectiveness, of WBG lending on jobs outcomes. Federica Saliola leads several policy analysis and reports, including the Jobs after Covid paper, the Jobs Undone: Reshaping the Role of Governments toward Markets and Workers in the Middle East and North Africa report, and the Jobs Flagship (her blogs). Finally, Federica Saliola coordinates the relationship with the G20 Employment Working Group. Previously, Federica Saliola was the co-Director of the World Development Report 2019 on The Changing Nature of Work, which investigates the impact of technology on labor markets. Prior to this position, Federica Saliola was a Manager in the World Bank Development Economics Global Indicators Group. Under her intellectual leadership, several World Bank reports have been published and she has also published in peer-reviewed journals. Federica Saliola holds a PhD in Economics and a Laurea in Political Science from the University of Rome, la Sapienza.
