Bedri Kamil Onur Tas
Associate Professor of Economics, Department of Economics and Finance, Sultan Qaboos University
Bedri Kamil Onur Tas is Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and Finance at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, where he teaches courses in finance, macroeconomics, and FinTech at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He was awarded the Turkish Academy of Sciences Young Scientist Award and received the TED Ambassador Award from the European Union in 2023 for his work on AI technologies in public procurement. Previously he was Professor and Department Head of Economics at TOBB University of Economics and Technology in Turkey, with a dual appointment in Artificial Intelligence Engineering. He served as Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute and is a Research Fellow at the Economic Research Forum. A graduate of Bilkent University, he holds a Ph.D. in economics from Boston College. He has published over 40 articles on public procurement, digital finance, monetary policy, and machine learning applications in economics in journals including the European Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Macroeconomics, Small Business Economics, and the International Journal of Central Banking.
