Bassam Yousif
Professor of Economics, Indiana State University
Bassam Yousif is Professor of economics at Indiana State University. His research focuses on the economic development and political economy of the Middle East, concentrating on Iraq. His scholarship includes a book on the development history of Iraq, Human Development in Iraq, 1950-1990 published by Routledge in 2012, numerous articles and conference presentations. His current research analyses the political economy of popular revolt in the Arab world, with emphasis on how institutions have interacted with political change and conflict to shape development outcomes, in addition to research on environmental and water issues.
