Anas Iqtait is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Economics and the Political Economy of the Middle East at the Australian National University's Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies. He holds a PhD in the Political Economy of the Middle East from ANU, an MA in International Development Policy from Seoul National University (South Korea), and a BS in Financial Economics from Methodist University (United States). Before undertaking his PhD research, Anas accumulated a wealth of professional experience in the Middle East. He was engaged in the financial services industry in the United Arab Emirates, managing a portfolio of leading public and private equity firms based in the Middle East. Additionally, Anas worked in the economic development field in Palestine, contributing to projects with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Oxfam, and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). He is a co-founder and the chief editor of the Near East Policy Forum at ANU, and serves as a non-resident scholar with the Middle East Institute in the United States.
