City Eldeep Radwan Ahmed is a Lead economist with extensive expertise in economic policy analysis, and computable general equilibrium (CGE) modelling. She holds a PhD in Economic Policy from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, where her thesis applied a dynamic CGE framework to evaluate the economy-wide implications of structural reform in Egypt. Dr. Ahmed has held several influential roles across Egypt’s public and research institutions, including Lead Economist at the Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research (Baseera), Economic Consultant at The Egyptian Iron and Steel Association, Head of the Information Unit at the Technical office of the Minister of Trade and Industry, and Senior Anti-Dumping Investigator at the Trade Remedy Sector. Her work spans a wide array of topics including trade policy, industrial development, climate resilience, social protection, and subsidy reform. Her research portfolio includes collaborations with international organizations such as the World Bank and UNDP, where she has assessed the impacts of carbon taxation, migration policies, and geopolitical crises on the Egyptian economy using CGE modelling. She has also contributed to policy-oriented studies on Egypt’s steel industry, export strategies, and the distributional effects of climate policies. Dr. Ahmed is a published author in peer-reviewed journals, with recent work focusing on gender and climate policy, COVID-19 economic responses, and the unfinished business of stabilization programs in Egypt.
