Measuring Top Incomes and Inequality in the Middle East: Data Limitations and Illustration with the Case of Egypt

This project tries to understand income inequality with respect to top incomes in the MENA region with a focus on Egypt. To do this, the paper lays out a roadmap of the different methods and possibilities of understanding top incomes, and analyzes the existing household income and expenditure surveys to learn about the extent of mid-reporting of top incomes in the survey data when compared to national accounts.
