Khalid Siddig

Senior Researcher, International Agricultural Trade and Development Group of the Humboldt University of Berlin

Khalid Siddig is a Senior Researcher at the International Agricultural Trade and Development group of the Humboldt-University of Berlin, Germany and an Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Khartoum, the Sudan. He obtained a Habilitation, a PhD and an MSc Degrees in Agricultural Economics, respectively, at University of Hohenheim, University of Giessen (Germany), and University of Khartoum (Sudan). His research examines the tradeoffs and synergies within the production and use of water, energy and food in developing countries under the dynamics of climate, population and policies including the distributional, economy-wide and regional implications. Geographically, he is interested in Africa and the Middle East. His currently offered courses include economics of agricultural and rural development, simulation modelling and general equilibrium modelling. Mr. Siddig is a 2016-2019 GTAP Research Fellow, Purdue University, USA.

Khalid Siddig is a senior researcher at the International Agricultural Trade and Development Group of the Humboldt University of Berlin since April 2016 and an associate Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Khartoum in the Sudan since March 2012. Dr. Siding’s research interest and publications are focused on examining the effectiveness of policies applied to agriculture and natural resources in developing countries, especially in the Middle East and Africa. Currently at the Humboldt University of Berlin, he offers courses on economics of agricultural and rural development, simulation modelling of policies and markets and general equilibrium modelling.
