Regional Launch of Progress of Women in the Arab States 2020 Report

Join us for the launch of the UN Women regional report “The Progress of Women in the Arab States 2020: the role of the care economy in promoting gender equality” produced by UN Women in partnership with the Economic Research Forum and with the generous support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) as well as the Swiss Development Cooperation. The report demonstrates the extent to which the distribution of unpaid care work in the Arab States is highly unequal and how it represents an obstacle to raising women’s labour force participation rates in the region. The report also examines the paid care sector, which can be an important source of employment for women. The country case studies focusing on Egypt, Jordan, the State of Palestine and Tunisia, as well as the accompanying the policy briefs provide important insights into the existing care policies and recommendations for the recognition and redistribution of care work. The webinar will be available in English and Arabic through simultaneous translation.
