Younes Abouyoub
Head, Governance and State-Building Work, (UN-ESCWA)
Dr Youness Abouyoub heads the Governance and State-Building work at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA). He is in charge of a diverse portfolio of programmes on governance and institutional development for conflict prevention and sustainable development, which provides member States with substantive analysis, policy advice, technical assistance, capacity-building and knowledge sharing on a host of governance (SDG 16) and institutional matters, including political reform and transition, crisis and conflict management and prevention. He has worked with the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs on conflict resolution and peacebuilding in several United Nations special political missions in post-conflict and conflict-affected countries around the world, including Sudan, Libya, Yemen, Burundi, Kenya, Chad…etc. Younes Abouyoub holds a Ph.D. in political sociology, and other post-graduate university degrees in sociology, geopolitics, and law.
