Ambassador Wael Aboulmagd is a Career Diplomat with over 30 years of service in the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with extensive experience in multilateral diplomacy and institutions. His areas of specialization include Public International Law, Human Rights Law, United Nations practice and procedures, Democratic transitions and Constitutional Law, International Environmental Law and practice.

- Combating Human Trafficking: Chairman, Drafting Committee for the Egyptian Legislation on Combating Trafficking in Persons (TiP). In this capacity, was responsible for all aspects of drafting, promoting and passing legislation into law by Egyptian Parliament (Law No. 64/2010).
- Climate Change: Head of delegation of Egypt and lead negotiator, The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate change (UNFCCC), September 2016 to November 2019.
- Chairman, Group of 77 and China for the Climate Change process, January – December 2018.
- Biodiversity: Head of delegation, Convention on Biodiversity (CBD) Cop 13, Cancun, December 2016. Head of delegation of Egypt CoP14 and member of National Organization Committee of the host country.
