Regional Energy Specialist, UNDP Sustainable Energy Hub

Mr. Gitonga has held several posts on energy and climate change in his career. He is currently working as the Regional Energy Specialist, UNDP Sustainable Energy Hub. He is working at the at the UNDP Regional Hub for Arab States in the Environment and Energy Team, based in Amman, Jordan. In this role, he supports UNDP Country Offices across the Arab region on matters related to clean energy transition, energy access and environment in the context of sustainable development. Before joining the Regional Hub, he worked at the UNDP HQ in New York as Global Lead and Policy Advisor on energy coordinating and providing policy and programming support at the global level. He has extensive experience in energy and climate change policy programming, coordination and policy support at community, national, regional, and global levels. He has published over 40 thematic papers on the topic of energy, climate change and sustainable development.
