Dr. Omer Faruk Tekdogan is an Associate Professor of Finance in the Department of Islamic Economics and Finance at the Social Sciences University of Ankara, where he also serves as the Director of the International Center for Islamic Economics and Finance. He holds a BA in Business Administration from Istanbul University (2005), an MA in Economics from North Carolina State University (2014), and a Ph.D. in Islamic Economics and Finance from Istanbul University (2019). Dr. Tekdogan has a distinguished career spanning public and international finance. He previously served as Head of Department at the Directorate General of Economic Programs and Research in the Ministry of Treasury and Finance (2019–2022) and as Deputy Head of Department at the Undersecretariat of Treasury (2017–2019). Earlier in his career, he held specialist roles at the Directorate General of Public Finance (2005–2011) and the Directorate General of State Aids (2011–2016). From 2016 to 2017, he was a Policy Analyst at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), focusing on Official Development Finance in areas such as infrastructure, investment, private sector development, and regional connectivity. In his current role, Dr. Tekdogan leads research at the intersection of Islamic social finance and socio-economic development, exploring the transformative potential of Islamic financial instruments such as Zakat, Sadaqah, and Waqf in enhancing financial inclusion and economic stability. An active editor and contributor to leading Islamic finance journals, he also explores sustainable finance, green banking, and the emerging field of Islamic FinTech.
