Jean-Baptiste Guiffard is a post-doctoral researcher at Telecom Paris (CREST, Institut Polytechnique de Paris) and an associate researcher at UMR Développement et Sociétés (Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Université Paris-1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where his thesis focused on the socioeconomic impacts of broadband internet, especially in developing regions. His research interests lie at the intersection of digital economics, development economics, and industrial organization, particularly on evidence-based policy and economic impact evaluation. He has published in ranked journals, including Telecommunications Policy and Economics and Statistics, and has experience as an economist in regulatory affairs at Orange. Jean-Baptiste’s current research examines the role of high-speed internet and platforms in firm performance, the labor market, and protest dynamics across Africa.
