Israa El Husseiny

Israa A. El Husseiny is an Assistant Professor at the Economics Department, Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University. She is actively involved in research about public finance and public economics with an emphasis on issues of budgeting and budgetary institutions, fiscal deficits, political economy, education finance, and public financial management. She obtained her PhD and Master’s in Economics from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, in years 2014 and 2009, respectively. She has been working as an economic policy, public finance, budget and fiscal decentralisation expert for different international institutions including the EU, the USAID, the UK Aid, and the UNICEF in several development projects in Egypt. Her research articles on budgetary institutions; optimal government size; public expenditure allocations; and fiscal policy in Egypt have appeared in reputable international peer-reviewed journals.
