Iman Al Ayouty

Dr. Iman Al-Ayouty has over 15 years teaching and research experience in the fields of economics and applied economic research. She obtained her B.A. in Economics from the American University in Cairo, and was awarded her Ph.D. in Economics from Cairo University. Dr. Al-Ayouty currently holds the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Economics, Faculty of Business Administration and International Trade. She previously held the position of lecturer at the Department of Economics at the British University in Egypt and at the Arab Academy for Maritime Transport and Trade. In terms of professional economic experience, Dr. Al-Ayouty was Senior Economist at the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies in the period 2010-2015. During this time, Dr. Al-Ayouty was key author of several prime working papers and was contributor to the Global Competitiveness Report. Dr. Al-Ayouty was the recipient of the 2006-07 Fulbright Scholarship, during which she was an affiliate of the Latin American Institute, University of California Los Angeles. She has publications on topics related to efficiency and industrial upgrading, decent work attainment, the export effects of privatization and restructuring of public enterprises, all with application to the textile and apparel industry in Egypt. Her research also included R&D in Egypt's pharmaceutical industry, analyzing unemployment in Egypt from a spatial angle, as well as the environmental impact of Egypt’s energy intensive industries, and carbon dioxide emissions. Dr. Al-Ayouty's research interests include microeconomics, industrial organization, economic development and international economics.
