Houyem Cheki Ep Cherni is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Higher Institute of Accounting and Business Administration (ISCAE), University of Manouba, Tunisia, and a Research Fellow at the Laboratoire d’Economie et de Gestion Industrielle of the Ecole polytechnique de Tunisie (LEGI – EPT), University of Carthage. Her main research interests lie in computable general equilibrium (CGE) modeling, with a focus on both conceptual and empirical analysis. She provides economic policy recommendations, particularly in the areas of social protection, energy, and the environment, and is a specialist in the implementation of OLG-CGE models. Dr. CHEKI EP CHERNI holds a certificate in CGE modeling with GAMS from the EcoMod Modeling School at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. She was awarded the Best Paper Award in Macroeconomic Studies at the 17th Annual Conference of the Economic Research Forum (ERF). She has published in internationally indexed journals and is currently leading the Franco-Tunisian project under the Hubert Curien Partnership – Utique Program (PHC-UTIQUE-2024), managed by the Joint Committee for University Cooperation (CMCU). The project is titled "Development of Public Decision Support Tools for a Just Energy Transition in Tunisia.". Dr. CHEKI EP CHERNI also contributed as a technical coordinator for the “IMAGINE” research project, part of the international Deep Decarbonization Pathways (DDP) initiative. This initiative, which has been running since 2013, is led by the Institute of Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) and is supported by the European Commission in collaboration with the International Center for Research on Environment and Development (CIRED). Additionally, she has participated in extra-academic consulting activities with the World Bank, the African Development Bank (ADB), the Tunisian Institute of Strategic Studies (ITES), the North Africa Bureau of Economic Studies Intl (NABES Lab), and the Center for Research and Social Studies (CRES).
