
Hatem Salah

Hatem Salah is a Doctor of Economics from the University of Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne), France. He also holds master’s degrees in international economics and development economics from the same university. Since 2011, he has been a university professor of Economics at the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Tunis, University of Manouba (Tunisia). He has been the director of the ThÉMA Laborator, (Economic Theories, Modelling & Applications) at ESC Tunis, University of Manouba, since 2019. He also heads the joint Moroccan-Tunisian laboratory named the Moroccan-Tunisian Observatory on Digital Economy (ORMATUEN), since 2019. Dr. Hatem SALAH was a member of the Board of Directors of public Bank (2018-2024) and is currently an independent member of the Supervisory Board of a private bank, where he serves as the president of the Risk Committee, since June 2024. He was a member of the Economic Analysis Council from July 2013 to 2016. He directed the Masters in Banking, Finance, and International Trade at ESC Tunis from 2009 to 2019 and served as Deputy Director of ESC Tunis from 2006 to 2010. He has also been a Visiting Researcher at the University of Wellington, New Zealand, and has taught Economics at several universities in Tunisia. His main research interests include development macroeconomics, the banking sector, bank efficiency, monetary policy and financial markets, trade and investment, capital flows, and economic growth, with a focus on African and Arab development.
