Hassan Hamie is an economist with the Poverty and Inequality research team at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) in Beirut. With a background in engineering, he previously served with the Lebanese Petroleum Administration before transitioning to his current role. Hassan holds a PhD in Energy Economics from the Technical University of Vienna, where his research focused on the intersection of energy, economics, and policy. His current work at UN-ESCWA centers on poverty, inequality, and inclusive development in the Arab Region, contributing valuable insights to the field of welfare economics.
