
Hamed Najafi
Economist and Iran's representative at the United Nations
Hamed Najafi is currently an Economist and Iran's representative at the United Nations. He holds a PhD in International Economics from Semnan University, Iran, where he focused on modeling Iran's foreign trade with an emphasis on sanctions and geopolitical risk. He has experience working in international affairs, including roles as an economic expert at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and various embassies. He has also been actively involved in budget analysis, resource allocation, and fundraising for UN agencies such as the World Food Programme (WFP), UNHCR, IOM, and UNODC, as well as for the General Assembly of the UN. His research interests include econometric analysis, international trade dynamics, sanctions, and energy economics. Hamed earned his Bachelor's in Business Economics in 2008 and his Master's in Economics in 2013. He completed his PhD in 2023.
