Deepika Pingali is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the United States. Her research is at the intersection of climate change and gender, and she focuses primarily on economic outcomes and inequities for women. She works in collaboration with the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois, using data science and machine learning methods to complement her economic research. Prior to starting her Ph.D., she received degrees in engineering and business from India, and worked extensively as a grassroots development practitioner and consultant in South Asia.
