Clémence Vidal de la Blache

AFD, Egypt Country Director

Clémence Vidal de la Blache is a development professional with 15 years of experience. Having graduated from a Joint Degree in International Affairs from Sciences Po & the London School of Economics, she started working on livelihoods projects in drought-affected regions of Uganda. She joined the AFD group in 2009 with initial postings in Burundi and South Africa. As part of AFD’s Global Urban practice (2012-2018), she designed sustainable municipal finance and urban services projects, launched AFD’s urban innovation labs and spearheaded AFD’s Disaster Risk resilience strategy. From 2018 to 2022, she was Deputy Country Director in Delhi, overseeing AFD India’s dynamic urban development portfolio. She is passionate about building partnerships and exploring how innovation can be leveraged in development projects. She joined AFD Cairo as Egypt Country Director in September 2022.
