Carl Bernadac

Deputy Executive Director of Innovation, Strategy and Research, AFD

Carl Bernadac graduated from French business school (Neoma). He worked 6 years for a Spanish NGO supporting refugees, thereafter graduated in 2003 from Harvard Kennedy School of Government (master in public administration in international development). He joined AFD as sectoral economist in 2004, 6 years climate / energy senior project officer. He has served at AFD’s countries offices for eight years, first in Bogota, Colombia and then in Johannesburg, South Africa as AFD deputy director, with a focus on Just Ecological Transitions. Since September 2021, Carl Bernadac is the AFD Deputy Executive Director, Innovation, Strategy & Research, at Headquarters in Paris.
