Belgi Turan

Associate Professor and Deputy Chair of the Department of Economics, TOBB University of Economics and Technology, Turkey

Belgi Turan is an Associate Professor of Economics and the current Deputy Chair of the Department of Economics at TOBB University of Economics and Technology in Turkey. She is also a research fellow at the Economic Research Forum. Dr. Turan received her B.Sc. in 2001 and MBA in 2003 from Middle East Technical University and her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Houston in 2011. Her primary research interests lie in applied microeconomics, focusing on education, gender, health, and labor economics. Her work has been published in leading general-interest and field journals, including The Economic Journal, Journal of Development Economics, and Journal of Population Economics. Dr. Turan has led numerous research projects commissioned by international organizations, such as the World Bank and the European Commission, as well as Turkish governmental institutions, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Ministry of Trade, Strategy and Budget Directorate, and Ministry of Development. She has also conducted Impact Analysis training for governmental bodies such as the Competition Authority, Ministry of Industry and Technology, Ministry of Development, Turkish Employment Agency, and Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
