Bassem Snaije is managing partner of Cosmos Advisors, a consulting company based in Paris that provides financial advisory services to international clients. He has over 30 years of experience in investment banking and capital markets and has worked in Paris, London and New York and Switzerland, traveling frequently to Asia and the Middle East. Bassem Snaije, started his carrier in 1983 at Banque Paribas in Paris and New York, trading bonds and currencies. Since then, he held various principal roles with international financial institutions including heading HSBC’s private banking operations in MENA, leading Lehman Brothers’ MENA capital markets and European investment management arm and Credit Agricole’s emerging markets and global capital markets business. He currently advises private and institutional clients on transactions and investments. His expertise lies in political economy, financial markets, and global derivatives instruments. He teaches various courses on geopolitics, economics and finance at Sciences-Po, the Paris School of International Affairs as well as the Institute of Business Administration in Beirut (ESA). He is board member of IREMMO a think tank based in Paris and an author of articles and research with CIDOB a research center in Barcelona. He has a master’s degree in international finance, economics and econometrics and an MA in Economic History from the Sorbonne. He is a member of the Sorbonne’s history of economics doctoral school and is conducting research on banking sectors and financial crisis in contemporary history. Bassem Snaije has French nationality and is fluent in French, English, Arabic, and Italian with a knowledge of Spanish.
