Aya Gabr

National Coordinator for Social Protection, ILO Cairo office

Aya Gabr is the national coordinator for social protection at ILO Cairo office. She works closely with the Egyptian government on the implementation of the new social protection reforms and the extension of social protection to informal workers. From 2018-2020, she worked as social policy consultant as UNICEF and worked on advancing the public finance for children portfolio and on producing knowledge on social protection and poverty in Egypt. She also worked on research and knowledge production at IOM MENA office. She holds a B.A. degree and a graduate diploma in political science from the American university in Cairo and currently is doing her M.A degree in public and social policy at the university of York.
