Amel Bouzid

Research Director, Research Centre in Applied Economics for Development (CREAD), Algeria

Amel Bouzid is a Research Director at the Research Centre in Applied Economics for Development (CREAD) in Algeria since 2007; she has been the Director of the Division of Agriculture, Territory and Environment at CREAD since 2018. She holds a Ph.D. in Agronomy, jointly supervised by the National Higher School of Agronomy (ENSA) of Algiers and the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Montpellier (CIHEAM-IAMM). Her research focuses on the intersections between food security, agricultural policy, and sustainable rural development, with a particular emphasis on the agroecological transition and the resilience of farming systems in the Mediterranean region. She has participated in several international research collaborations, notably as national coordinator of the PRIMA project “Dionysus: Operational Adaptation Nexus-Based Systems Solutions in the Mediterranean”. She also contributes to the H2020 NATAE project on agroecological practices, the ARIMNET project on Mediterranean agri-food products, and the MASSIRE project with CIRAD.
