Senior Liaison Advisor, Middle East and North Africa Bureau, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

Alex Tyler has been involved in UNHCR’s response to the Syria crisis since 2013, first in Jordan, then as UNHCR Head of Desk for the Syria/Iraq Situation, the Snr External Engagement Coordinator, and now Snr Liaison Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa Bureau. He has worked with UNHCR since 1999, serving in Rwanda, Congo, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Somalia, among others. Alex is British, married with three children and has a BA in Law from Cambridge and a MSc in Rural Development from SOAS.
