Tarek Selim

Tarek H. Selim has more than 30 years of experience in university administration, service, teaching, and research. His experience includes serving as president, provost review boards, research councils, department chairman, vice-president of university senate, chairman of university conferences, and professor of economics and business strategy. He has been a visiting professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and faculty affiliate to the Microeconomics of Competitiveness (MOC) network at Harvard Business School. He served in the global expert council and member of the AI commission at the World Economic Forum. His experience at the American University in Cairo spans more than twenty years including professor of economics, business, and executive management education. He has been advisor to several government ministries in Egypt and consultant to emerging economies, business associations, and industries. He has a PhD in economics from George Washington University, MBA from Johns Hopkins University, MS in economics from Iowa State University, MS in industrial engineering and BS (Honors) in mechanical engineering from the American University in Cairo. He holds certificate programs from MIT, Harvard, Georgetown, Oxford, Imperial College, and others. He received the Lifetime Research Fellow award from the Economic Research Forum of the Middle East with more than 100 research publications.
