
Heba Hashem

Heba Y. Hashem, has obtained her Master’s and PhD degrees from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science (FEPS), Cairo University in 2009 and 2015, respectively. She is currently an Associate professor in the Department of Economics at FEPS. She is also the head of the Egypt-OECD Country Program Monitoring Unit at the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation. She has worked in several consultancy/research projects in collaboration with different domestic institutions and international institutions like UNDP, UNICEF, UKAID, USAID and GIZ in the fields of sustainable development, public financial management, competitiveness, reform policies and project evaluation. She has also worked as an economic expert with a number of governmental entities and ministries including Ministry of Tourism, and Ministry of Trade and Industry, where she participated in conducting comparative analysis on best practice models in relevant economic issues, and preparing reports detailing the results of performed research and policy implications. She has also been a member of the team of experts who participated in updating the Sustainable development strategy: Egypt’s vision 2030. Heba is conducting research in the fields of macroeconomics and monetary economics, with special emphasis on monetary and fiscal policies, output and price fluctuations, and public policies to enhance macroeconomic performance. Other fields of interest involve financial economics including financial sector linkages and repercussions. Her published work is in the fields of economic growth, macroeconomic policies, investment valuation and banking sector profitability.
