Angela Lyons is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics and a Faculty Fellow at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the United States. She holds a PhD in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on addressing global challenges in international development related to economic and financial inclusion, poverty and inequality, and the economic empowerment and protection of vulnerable populations. She uses new frontier methods in data science to address global poverty and to promote the achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr. Lyons is a member of the T20 (Think20), the research and policy advice network of the G20 countries. Her work related to multidimensional poverty and the bridging of the humanitarian-development nexus has been influential in shaping the work of the T20 and international humanitarian policy at the United Nations.
